You would not believe it!
Arrived at school on Monday ready to start the stock take only to find that the fierce storm that we had on Sunday had wiped out the computer and phone system in the school. Couldn’t put books away, so after I had cover umph books, I started to tidy up the shelves and I think that is the time that I fell asleep in my chair. LOL. I think that I must have been asleep for about ten minutes, the library was very warm and quiet, and I was wakened by the computer repair man who is a good friend. He got two computers up and working, so I started yesterday……it is such a dirty job but kind of peaceful.
I have rescheduled last Saturday’s crop for next Saturday. I put it back an hour. So it will be 9.00 in NSW and Victoria and 8.00 in Queensland.

Opps1
Thanks Sharon for pointing out the wrong date......the only thing that I can blame it is the end of the year and I am looking forward to the holidays. I start my stocktake at school today, there has never been a stocktake at the school before, so I think that it is going to be interesting. Joy my lovely assistant is really worrying about it.

Soft breezes of summer.
I know that it is still spring but last night was very warm. Jessie's art exhibition was in an old wooden farmhouse that use to be a friary, very beautiful with rolling green lawns and wide verandas. It was great to sit on the verandah with a cool glass of wine watching the children play. The exhibition was a combination of a year’s work for five different groups and the standard varied. In one and half terms Jessie had done four pieces of work, two were self-portraits which were very lovely. I will take photos of them when we bring them home. My favourite was a collage that she had done using tones of blue and greens on the topic of ‘dentation’.
The Down-Under Crop is now on the 3rd of December at 9.00pm. This is the element pack that you will receive for posting a lay-out.

Putting off the crop.
I'm really sorry but due to a function that I have to attend with Jessie (my daughter), I am going to have to put the crop off for a week. It will now be on Saturday the 3rd of December at 9.00pm (day-light saving time), that will make it at 8.00pm Brisbane time.

Having fun
I'm having fun making elements to go with the Christmas papers. Like Sharon I'm really looking forward to the school holidays when I can play again on the computer, by that time I should have my new computer which I hope to order from Dell over the next few days.
Here is one of the glass things......

Paper Pack for Crop
This is the paper pack that I designed for the Down-Under Crop on Saturday night.

I think that I will give out the paper pack at the beginning of the crop and then for all that post a layout I will give out the element kit to match the papers. What do you think, will that work?

Abby's First Birthday
This is Abby at her birthday party at Roma Street Parklands last weekend, she was a little unsure about all the people talking to her. Hopefully over the years she will get to know them better.

(all of the papers and elements are from my new kit 'Winter Warmth'.)

Hosting a crop
Next Saturday night I'm hosting a 'down-under' crop on the digichick. I am designing a Christmas kit as a give-away for scrappers that take part in the crop and I hope to see lots there, it should be fun. I hope to get the kit posted on Digi-Chick and here this week.

The other thing that I wanted to mention is that thedigichick is having a sale on black Friday.

Catching up
We had the most marvellous day on Saturday, Abby turned one and we had a family get together to celebrate. Mostly it was extended family, which was really lovely. The kids all got on well together and we had it in the playground at Roma Street Parklands. One of the nicest parts about living in Brisbane is that we have plenty of family here, for to many years we have lived away from family.... it gives a sense of belonging, that has previously been absent. Thank you Suzy and Odette for all your hard work, it was so well organised and I think that everyone had a great time.
It is lovely for the grandchildren as well, as they know that they have cousins and they look forward to seeing them. Though on Saturday I know that Olivia missed Isabella, a little cousin who could not make it. I will get around to posting photos over the next few weeks.

Not a good day
Late to work, I took the wrong roads trying to come a different way to see if it was any quicker. It didn’t work but maybe it would have if I hadn’t stop for a cup of coffee. LOL but I really needed it, to wake me up. Our hot nights are starting and I didn’t sleep that well.
I have just about finished my new kit and I am very pleased with it. I will try to post a preview of it tomorrow; I think that I will add some stitching to it. If you can think of any other elements that you would like added, put it in the comments
I just read 'Happy Christmas Lulu' to the Year Ones.

Long time since posting
It has been a long time since I made an entry. It is my lunchtime at school and I am taking a break from cataloguing to blog. I have just started a five week contract as a teacher/librarian in a inter city Brisbane school. There are fourteen classes in the school and it is a fairly easy timetable, so I have plenty of time to catch up on library work. I think that I will re-build the school web site, as it is fairly awful.
I want to share a story with you. The washing machine at home recently stopped working. It would not spin and the drum seemed jammed. I called the repairman and he just about died of shock when he took the top off the machine. The packers when we moved house had in their wisdom decided to put crushed-up plastic at the top under the lid, I suppose to stop it from moving. We didn’t know and we used the machine as normal. Slowly over a period of time the plastic wrapped itself around the drum and eventually it became so tight, it stopped. Often I could smell burning in the house but could never work out where it came from; the repairman said that we were extremely lucky that it had not caught on fire. Which would have been a real worry as I often program the machine to start when I am not home.
I received my ‘Little Sweetie’ from Miss Mindy last night she is very cute, she is called Lil Sandgal

Feeling nervous
Yesterday I was feeling nervous on and off all day, couldn't work out why. It was the fact that my kits were actually up for sale, I know that people download them when they are free but would they want to buy them. I love designing so much, I used to spend a lot of my time painting and drawing when I was younger but then life got too busy. These days I don't go any where without drawing supplies, I don't look at anything without thinking can I turn it in a design? I am so absorbed by designing.
I have been remiss in welcoming Sharon (ksharonk)to my design team. We meet a while back through blogging and I really admire her work. It is great to have her as part of the team, here is her blog and you can see her wonderful work here.

Another kit
This is another one of my new kits that was put up in DigiChick today. My little grand-daughter Olivia loves pink, so I had to make a pink kit named after her. The kit is called 'Sweet Olivia'

All the papers and elements in this layout are from the kit. The layout itself is a scrap-lift of alb53's work on the Digi Chick.

One of my new kits
This one is called 'coastline'. I have such great memories of the ocean when I was a child. We lived in a hot, dry inland city and for our annual holidays we used to head to the Gold Coast in Queensland. My dad loved it, we spend many hours climbing over rocks, collecting shells, sitting on the headland enjoying the breeze and watching the ocean. It was utter bliss. He was at his most relaxed and happiest during these holidays.

This is a beautiful layout done by Suzy of Olivia using the kit.

Myself
I had to do a layout about myself to put in the DigiChick Designer gallery, I always worry about things like that....I hardly every have photos taken of myself and when they are, I am not happy with them. I suppose that we all go through that.....so I should stop complaining.

The papers are from my kit that is released on Thursday at Digi Chick, the kit is called 'Coastline'.
