A shock

Yesterday Jess and I went shopping up the hill at Paddington and as I was standing in front of one of the shops, I noticed an huge amount of black smoke coming from the direction of our street. I didn't really worry about it, as I known as having an overactive imagination.
About an hour later we headed home but could not get into our street because of the number of fire engines, police cars and ambulances. The house across the street from ours had been set on fire, it is totally destroyed. So very sad for the man that lived there, he lost everything. A lady that he had been sharing the house with has been charged with setting it on fire.

It was a crime scene for a while but that has now been taken down. It was a wooden house, most of the houses in our area are wooden, it is an older part of the city.

The cat

I often mention THE CAT in my blog. It is one very pampered and loved cat. How many people do you know will get up at four to let the cat out? I think that Jessie loves it even more than me, she feeds it and cleans its kitty litter. Anyway I have been cleaning up my photos and found this delightful one of Jess and the cat.

Blue paper is mine but overlay is by Nancy at scrap artist. I am not sure of the rest as I saved them on my hard-drive when I first started digital-scrapping.

Thoughts on Christmas

Another Christmas gone, it was a lovely day but incredible hot, there was a storm in the afternoon but it didn’t really cool things down. I love the built-up to Christmas, working out what you are going to get different people, the buying of gifts, the decorations and the busyness. Then as you get closer to Christmas how people wear Santa hats and vehicles get decorated, the lights on different houses etc. How the world because a little more gentler, magical. Yes, Graham did wear his Santa hat to work,we know that he is a dag but a fun one. He went with a big grin on his face.

Jessie and I read this great quote in front of a shop.
There are four stages of a man’s life.
One when he believes in Santa.
Two when he doesn’t believe in Santa
Three when he is Santa
Four when he looks like Santa.

Graham is between three and four….we think.

Hoping that you all had a wonderful, happy Christmas. Love Sandra

Nearly Christmas

Two more sleeps before Christmas; I still have some shopping to do....some finishing off. Then tomorrow morning food shopping, the weather is extremely hot and it is predicted to be a really hot on Christmas day. I think that we will be looking for a swimming pool after lunch.

My grandchildren are spending Christmas with Suzy’s parents, so just before they left earlier this week we took the two little ones for a drive around the neighborhood looking at lights. Both of them were so beautiful in their response, they were so excited by them. Isn’t Christmas wonderful?

New layout

I have been working on layouts over the past week and not really doing any designing, however, I find that when ever I do a layout I make something extra to put on it ....so over the next few weeks I will give away the things that I make and you are welcome to have them.

I got a new computer a week ago and have been slowly transfering information across. Last night my wondeful son came across to help me tidy up the computer and to make sure that both computers in the study had the internet. They now do, so my daughter and myself can both be on the internet at the same time. Thank you Adam.

This morning I did a layout of Jess (my youngest). She is such a great kid and always helps out when the need is great. Anyway I had better post it before I rave on to much. Good night all and sleep well.

A note to Judy one of my new year resolution is to be more social and not to spent as much time on the computer, even though I do love it.

The papers are from my Santa paper pack at thedigichick and the brush on the photo is from ? (I not sure who), I lose the kit when we transfered files.

Olivia

It is been so great this week to be able to spend a lot of time with the grandchildren. Olivia is at a remarkable age, full of questions, wants to take part in conversations and to offer her point of view.Tonight is an example, we were at 'Cold Rock', Liv gave her order and told the ladies exactly what she wanted. She is very articulate, confident little girl.

Once again I was inspired by Jackie on Designer Digital. Papers are from Katie Pertiet ‘Market Meadow’ and the angel is mine. It is available at

Taking Time

I am taking time to catch up with some layouts. I have so many photos from this year that really need to be scrapped. Here is one of Jess sitting in the longue room taking a break from drawing. Each year she makes a family calendar with important dates etc on it. The really special thing about it, is that she does the illustrations for each of the pages.

jess-time1.jpg

Papers used are by Katie Pertiet 'Market Meadow'; Clock Stamp by Tia Bennet. Fonts used are Jane Austen, Futurist Fixed Width and Gill Sans. It is a scraplift of Jackie's beautiful work....http://www.designerdigitals.com/ddgallery/showphoto.php?photo=1461&cat=500&ppuser=86

A new layout

I quickly wanted to post this before I go back to bed. Cat woke me up wanting to go outside.

liv&tree1.jpg

There is nothing more wonderful than seeing a small child experience the joys of Christmas. This is Olivia looking very closely at the ornaments on the tree.

Everything in the layout comes from the Susan Bartolini’s beautiful kit called ‘A Peaceful Christmas. The layout design is a scrap-lift of Sharon’s layout called ‘Natural Beauty’….. http://www.thedigichick.com/gallery/showphoto.php/photo/4082/cat/660’

Thanks for looking. How many more sleeps until Christmas?

A new layout

Abby came over yesterday and you should have seen her face when she saw the Christmas tree. Precious. She managed to get a few ornaments off the tree. LOL.

What is happening?

What is happening at 'thedigichick'? Holly has a huge secret and she won't even let us designers know what is going on. Suzy asked me yesterday if I knew what it was. No but I would love to.

Suzy's "Scappy Camel' site is getting closer to be finished. Suzy has the most amazing kits made and ready to go. Like everything that Suzy does, these are beautiful.

Car is fixed, I almost needed a bank loan to pay for it but at least you can hear yourself think inside the cabin now. It is was so noisy before.

I have moved all my paper scrapping materials out to the cupboard in the garage to make more room in the study, but as I was moving them, I fell in love with some of them all over again....I should do some paper scrapping in the holidays, if I can stand the mess. LOL.

Monday is gone. Thank God

Two weeks ago I booked in the car to have some major work done it this Monday (yesterday). I was up very early to take Graham to the airport and instead of going back to bed at 6 o'clock I stayed up to do some work on the computer. Woke Jess up at 7.30 with the plan of being at the garage by 8.30. I didn't take in the needs of a teenage girl, she wasn't ready by 8.30.....by this time I was starting to feel a little tired and a wee bit stressed. We eventually got there at 9 and then we caught the bus into the city to have a fun day of shopping and going to the movies. By the time we got there we decided that we would do the movie first. We saw the 'Corpse Bride’; the only positive thing that I can say about it is that the animation is great. Story line is corny and not suitable for the age that I think that are aiming it at. I still have very vivid memory of the worm crawling out of the eyehole of the bride .Awful.

You know some days you are in the mood for shopping and everything thing falls into place, well, yesterday was not like that. I was going to get a new top and some new underwear, there was nothing I liked in my size in the tops, and there was the size above and below. Don’t you hate that? I then got a call from our video shop saying that Myer was trying to track Jessie down as they had her purse. She couldn’t find it that morning. She had left it in the shop department at Myers on Saturday morning and had looked for it at home and couldn’t seem to find it. At least we were already in the shop, we went up to the lay-by area as that is where they have ‘lost property ‘. They only had her purse not her bag or phone. They sent us back down to the shop department, no sign of it but they asked us to leave my mobile number. We then went to have a look at the new David Jones and Queens Arcade, while there I got a phone call to say that they had found her bag and phone. We tracked back up to Myers to pick it up and decided to call it a day. We caught the bus back to Ashgrove only to find that they had not touched the car as they hadn’t ordered the parts and they were waiting all day for them to come in. I was clam, I was rational, and I re-booked the car and left for home thinking very dark thoughts about them.

But our day seem trivial by the news that we got when we got home. Pen was in hospital in Sri Lanka with very serious back pain. Sri Lanka is too far away when something like this happens. All different thoughts went through my head as to what it could be, but remarkably I was calm as I had seen the hospital when I was there and had been impressed by the facilities and the care that the staff took. I keep trying to get through to her mobile but it was turned off, which did not help my thoughts. I eventually got through to one of her friends and she gave me her new work mobile (which she had just got). By that time all the test results were back. It is a partially slipped disk. It will need rest and pshyo. Although it is extremely painful, it is something that can be fixed. Thank God. Oh and I had better cancel that plane ticket.

Holidays at last!

It is great, school is over for another year. It starting to feel like the holidays, the tree is up, the weather is hot and we can sleep in. I got my new computer just in time, it arrived last Friday and the best part of it, is that it has a large screen.....'all the better to see you with, my dear'. I am slowly transfering things over to it and cleaning up my files at the same time. It is funny but the first thing that I loaded was Photoshop.

My design team excelled themselves this time with my new kit, they did so many beautiful layouts, they are such a talented group. You can look at them here. If you do a layout with any of my kits, I would really love to see it. Could you post a link in the comment section. Thank you all for your lovely comments on my last layout.

Here is a great photo of Jess, she was playing with the camera last week and MSM them to her friends on line. It looked like she was having fun.

Another Monday

Home today from school, up most of the night coughing, fierce headache, sore throat.....in other words the whole works. A day of vegging on the couch trying to get well enough to go tomorrow, as we still have the stocktake to finish.

At long last I have a new kit coming out this week at the digi chick. Here is a layout I made using the kit. The photo is of my beautiful grand-daughter Abby. She often has that little worried look on her face, as if she is uncertain.

abby-on-swings1.jpg

Thank you to all those that came to the crop on Saturday, it was great fun and you have produced some wonderful layouts. I would like to make it a regular feature as I think that we all enjoyed it. Thank you especially to my design team that came and helped things flow along smoothly. I am still wondering how old your mum is?

Resigned from CT

Today I resigned from the creative team at Digiscrapdivas. I was finding that with less time now that I hardly got to visit the site and so to be fair to Kathy I resigned. The site itself will continue to grow and it will be a site to watch in the future.

Anyway on a lighter note my first crop is on tonight at 'thedigichick'. I would love to see you there.

Was talking to Pen last night and she seem to have a wonderful day. It is so much better now that she has MSM, we get to talk to her a lot more.

Thinking of you

Hoping that you have a beautiful day, my love.

pen-birthday.jpg

Our wonderful Pen is turning 29 today. We would love to be with her to help her celebrate. Oh well, maybe next year. This photo was taken of her last April, when she was back in Australia for a brief visit for some R & R. She is working for an NGO in Sri Lanka and is doing wonderful work. We all got a bit teary last night looking at photos of her....so Pen if you read this we need more photos. Love you.
