A great movie
On Monday Jessie's last day of holidays we headed off to the movies. We saw and loved 'Memoirs of a Geisha’; I read the book many years ago and could only remember parts of it. The movie captured the essence of the book, it showed the hardness of the way of life, the limited choices, how she was at the beck and call of others…….yet at the same time while it was a hard life, it was also a life full of beauty and elegance. The characters were very real and you could totally understand some of the things that they did even if you did not agree with their actions. A wonderful movie.

Something to share
A friend sent this wonderful photo to me, it brought back wonderful memories of when my children were small and we had Reece and then when Jess was small and we had Treasure. Thanks Kathy.

I did some scrapping yesterday, I did three layouts but I can't share them with you as they are showing the kits that is going into a wonderful shop that should be opening next weekend. It is called 'Scrappy Camel'.

Catching up
Wow it has been a week since I wrote on my blog. A lot has happened in that week, we saw the Murray, which is very close to being a lake not a river, there is not enough water in it. The red steep river banks at Walker flats were really impressive and the other thing that caused a huge impression was the number of house boats on the river. Murray Bridge lacked trees and was very dry, where as Mannum still had the beautiful buildings and the huge trees of a gone-by era. It was nestled into the side of the hill or a river bank. You could only get to it by punt, which was great fun.

The punt arriving at the side of the River Murray that Mannum was on.
By the way I have been looking at lap-tops but I think that it is just a dream at this stage.

Saturday morning
It is hard when you are an early morning person and you are waiting for the rest of the sleepy heads in your family to get moving. They are sitting around drinking coffee and reading the early morning papers, I did that hours ago. I am now waiting and what best to do than to surf the internet.
It is a grey overcast day here but cool, such a welcome relief after the hot stickness of Brisbane. We plan to head to the Murray River today, to have a look at it. It has been cleaned up and not knowing my geography really well..... this is where it flows out to the ocean, so we sure see it at its best.
I will take plenty of photos. I still seriously have laptop envy, there is a dude sitting at the coffee bar just near by, as it is a wireless hotspot and he has one of those small notebooks. Beautiful!Did you know that this is the first city in Australia with free internet hotspots all over the city. Great.

Can't find a computer
I have a serious envy complex this morning, all these business men are walking pass me with their laptops over their shoulders. I really would like me but can't really justify but.......I could mind the grandchildren while I walk; I could work at the local coffee shop....maybe if I can keep thinking of things I can justify one. LOL.
Went touring the Adelaide Hills; they are breaktaking beautiful. Little villages tucked into the folds of hills, vineyards and wonderful sandstone buildings. Photos top follow...Jess was the photographer, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

Leaving on a jet plane
We are going to Adelaide tomorrow. Graham is going over to work, so Jess and I are going with him. I'm looking forward to it so much, to have a look at city and to relax. The only downside is that I don't have a computer, so I will have to haunt internet cafes. I have a nephew there who is a computer wiz, so maybe he will see a lot of his aunt over the next week or so. I’m taking all my drawing materials so I can spend some time designing etc. and Jess is taking her painting materials.
On a more serious note, I had lunch today with some old teaching friends. The conversation got around to a principal that we worked under together. He is still there at the school but he still behaves the same way as he did when we were there. He does not support or value his staff in any way, if you have grey hair than he actively seeks to get rid of you, he passes off colour comments to female members of staff and his comments in the staffroom make people feel very uncomfortable. (They are usually of a sexual nature)The union have been involved a few times at the school, and complains have been made to the education department but he is still there. Why? Maybe I shouldn’t have written that but sometimes things seem very unfair and unjust.
Anyway I had better go to bed; I have plenty to do in the morning. Cleaning and packing.

Just a quick up-date
I have really busy getting things ready for the new shoppe that is opening February; I haven't even been reading blogs.LOL. That is something that I really love.
I'm really pleased with what I have achieved I have made a new kit and one mini kit, now I start revising all my older kits, re-packing, changing, adding things etc. My skills as a designer are changing and growing, so it is good to look at the older kits. The shoppe is looking really good, it is inspiring to work with the other designers, and they produce such wonderful things. The atmosphere is exciting; it is like getting ready for a birthday party. The anticipation is building.
Graham’s holidays are finished today, he is back at work. He took a long time to recover from his busy lifestyle and really needed more than the two weeks. We didn’t go anywhere except for Jessie. She went down to her wonderful friend, Julia, who loves in Sydney. The girls have been close friends since they were three years old and looking through our family photo album we have lots of photos of Julia. Jess had the most wonderful time; I think that just having Julia’s comfortable company was the best things. It is great when they are together they spike each other imagination. Jess has come back all inspired to write a short story.

This is an old layout, one day I will re-do it. Anyway back to work, hoping that the days are good for you.

Wishing you all a happy new year
It is early morning on New Years day and I wish you all the best for 2006, hoping that the new year is very kind to you.
I'm starting off the new year very excited, I'm going into a new venture. A group of designers from 'thedigichick' are starting up a new internet shop called 'The Sweet Shoppe', there are eight talented designers in total and the shop will open early February. We will all still support thedigichick as it is our original home and I find it a very welcoming, friendly site.
Our plans are underway for the grand opening and many wonderful things are in the works.I will keep you updated over the nexr month.
