Suzy's Designs

Suzy has been designing and has created some very pretty kits, they are at The Digi Shoppe. I have done a layout using her kit called 'Sugartime', it has taken me all day, on and off. I have made the two pins, the flower and the stamp. I learnt how to create diamonds today from scratch......hooray. This was such a lovely kit to work with, such beautiful colours.

By the way the background is one of Gina Miler's papers.

Have you check out out Anna's Paper Moon Blog, I love how she makes all her to do lists. She is very creative.

Friday Night

End of a busy week, another short week, we had Tuesday off because of ANZAC day. ANZAC day turned out to be a lovely day. My two sisters came up to Brisbane and we all went to the veteran’s march. The march was two hours long but very worth-while. I find it very emotional watching the old diggers march, they are so happy to see their mates and they are so proud. The numbers are dwindling in the WWII groups and there are no diggers left from WWI. There were lots of children and younger people marching, I assumed for their grandparents. Some carried a photo of the person that they were marching for. Abby loved the music of all the different bands and spend a lot of her time dancing, she is so delightful, she loves spinning but she ends up getting very dizzy and has to grab hold of something.

My contract has been extended so I have anything month of work. The library has lots of kits with slides in them and they want them to be made into DVD’s. So it should be interesting and fun to do……..as I will have a few problems to solve.

Thank you the wonderful ladies that have applied for my design team. I have found your work amazing and it is going to be difficult to choose. Remember you have until the 8th of May to apply.

I scrapped.

Today I fiddled around doing jobs abd I got a layout done. I used some of my old kits; papers from 'Olivia's Flowers' and the background is from 'Sweet Jane'. I think that I am pleased with it. Anyway I will let you judge.
I got the idea of the date label and bookmark thing from one of CD's wonderful layouts.

Abby-sun-glasses.jpg

Anyway I made the bookmark thing, the label on the ribbon and the flower.....you are welcome to them.

Thank you

Thank you that was fun. I called in to the fruit market on the way to work yesterday morning and bought a persimmon, so that I would know what it was. So thank you Victoria for your lovely name, I will send the kit to you over the next day. Enjoy it.

persimmons.jpg

Also many thanks to Dana. I will pack the stitches as a seperate kit and I will call it 'Blooming Stitches'. So I will send those lovely stitches over the next day.

Have you been watching 'So you want to be a Sugar Babe' on Sweet Shoppe Designs. All the designers had to re-do their vote on the third round and give each entrant a rating from 1-5......that is because the voting is so close. It was so hard, the work is all so beautiful.

Sewing

When my children were small I use to spend a lot of time sewing and quilting. I have boxes full of supplies and have not touch my machine for years. although I don't do it any more I still really love sewing. So today I made some messy sewing for scrapping, it was fun. What do you think?

freebie2.jpg

Have you been checking out the wonderful entries in 'You want to be a Sugar Babe'? Last night I sat looking at the computer screen for over three hours at the entries and their galleries trying to decide on my nine as the designers have to vote today. It was very hard. There are so many talented ladies out there.

Ribbons

Peta pointed out to me that they are really small so I will re-do them now and repost. So I'm taking the link down until I fix them.

Another freebie and another kit.

Just in time for Easter I got my 'Little Bunny' kit finished, it will be perfect for all the wonderful Easter photos that will be taken.

sbodd-bunny-kitpreview.jpg

Here is another freebie to go with 'Dragonfly', now remember my head was fuzzy when I made this kit, so the ribbons are 16cm long instead of 16 inches which is what I usually do. Please leave a comment if you download it.

A busy week

A busy couple of days, I must be better. Monday I had the most delightful day; my two sisters came for the day. Rose has gone to the 'dark side' and is learning how to digi scrap. She is really enjoying it and is excited and enthusiastic about it, it is so great to be able to share this with her. Tuesday Roma Street Parklands turned five years old, so they had a party in the morning for children. All activities, drinks, ice drinks, birthday cake were free. However the only problem was that they got stacks more children then they excepted. LOL. The lines were enormous but mostly good fun as you got to talk to the people around you.

Yesterday I cleaned, the house really needed it, next I have to tackle the mountain of clean washing on the spare bed and in the afternoon went Easter egg shopping. Did you know that Myers has 20% off on all Easter eggs? I love Easter egg shopping, they are so beautiful and all that chocolate in one place.

easter_banner.jpg

Then Suzy and I went to have a look at a local scrapping shop, even though we don’t paper scrap anymore we came out with a few things. LOL.

I just have to share this with you. Sue has done the most wonderful layout of her two dear daughters using 'Dragonfly'. Sue is so very talented and her two girls are beautiful.

'Dragonfly'Mini Kit

I finished it, I think that it was my fuzzy head but most things in this kit had to be re-made. It was going to be a lot bigger but I ran out of time. So I have a few freebies to go with it that I will put up on my blog over the next few days.

My sister, Rose

It is really great to be living closer to both my sisters, I now see a lot of them. Share experiences, shared backgrounds, similiar lives makes for close friendships. This is a lovely photo taken of Rose last weekend.

Dragonfly

One day walking through the park with the two little girls. Olivia noticed for the first time a dragonfly darting from one water-lily to another. She wanted to know what it was called and we stood and watched it for a long time. Needless to say that my new kit is called 'dragonfly', I have always loved them and I have a small collection at my house of painted, embroidered and ceramic ones. These are the colours........

April 05, 2006

My world is small at the moment.

This is the first day that I have really felt like being on the computer, however things are moving in slow motion........I only got one paper designed all day. It was Olivia's (my grand-daughter) birthday on Monday and Peta's yesterday. It must be really nice people that are born in April because they are both very special people. What star sign is that?

Deb F had this great thing on her blog called March Round-Up; I'm going to have a go at it. I hope that it is alright Deb copying it.

What books and/or magazines did I read this month? No books this month which is bad remember I’m a librarian. A few scrapping and house magazines.

What movies and/or TV shows did I watch this month? Far too many, probably. Jess and I have started a real timetable which includes too much TV watching, something I will have to change. Monday...Desperate Housewives, Chief and Commander. Tuesday….. OC. Wednesday….. House. Saturday….. Dr Martin.

What special days did I celebrate and how? None this month.

What illnesses or health concerns did I have in March? I thought that I had none except for the last Monday in March when I had a gall-bladder attack. I had it out before the end of the month.

What fun things did I do with my friends and/or family? Went to breakfast a few times. I love going out for breakfast it is one of my favourite things. Went to the movies....'Tristan and Isolde' and 'Walk the Line'.

What new foods, recipes or restaurants did I try in March? One only, Avanti at Bardon for pasta, it was just average. Graham is away all week and eats out most nights, so when he comes home he only wants home-cooked meals. I think that this is a problem as I love going out.

What special or unusual purchases did I make? I can't think of anything that I got this month. Except for a new car ...I have to take a photo of that baby. Maybe I can find one on the web.
301626608-1119635150587-0.jpg

What were this month’s disappointments? That my new job did not turn out as interesting as I expected. I expected more web work but instead I am doing the mundane computer stuff while he keeps the good stuff for himself. It is so boring that one day I fell asleep at the computer....shhh.

What were my accomplishments this month? I scrapped 2-3 digital layouts. I kept up with SSD calendar and created 2 kits, 2 paper packs and 1 mini kit. I ran a competition on my blog and got some wonderful entries using my kits. I destroyed my blog and had to rebuild it. I started a new temporary job at the TAFE library I cooked and cleaned and cared for my family. I took lots of photos that are waiting to be scrapped.

Grounded

I'm home and as I not allow to drive, I thought that I would use the time to update and fix my blog. I'm feeling well but still a little dopey, I suppose that is from the anesthetic, it is hard to remember what I was going to do next.

I have two kits half finished and a third one started. Have you been over to Sweet Shoppe Designs there is a huge contest on to find the ninth sugar babe, I have looked at some of the entrants and I'm always amazed at how talented people are.

Yesterday was a lovely day. Olivia had her third birthday party. A lot of her cousins were there and they are all around the same age, from 4 down to 1. It was fun, the children played really well together and had a great time. We were in an enclosed coutyard between the swimming pool and Adam & Suzy's apartment block. It is a very pretty place and it meant that the children were all confined to one area. Expect for the time that they discovered that they could open the door to the indoor pool. It was panic stations and everyone went running. LOL. The children were safe.

Children-train.jpg

There is a railway track behind the apartment building, this is most of the children on the tall fence looking at the train pulling out.

April 02, 2006

Just wanted to check in.

I can't sit at the computer for too long as it hurts too much after a while. I will tell you my little story. Jess and I decided to have take away food last Monday night, almost straight after eating it, I had severe pain and did not feel too good. The next day was much the same but by night it had eased a little. Come Wednesday morning the pain was still there. So off to the doctor I went (If you know me this was a big step as I dislike going to the doctor)She quickly told me that it was not food poisoning but my gall badder, she send me off for a scan to confirm it and when I got back she booked me into hospital. I had the operation last night, keyhole surgery and I was home the next morning.
I have to take things easy for the next few weeks but I should be fine. So what started off as a quiet week ended up full of events.
