Thank you

Thank you for your lovely comments; I think that I will go with Sandra Boddington Designs. Thanks Justine that was a good idea to keep Sand-Gal in there for a while.

I just want to share with you something that my sister told me. The rental market is so bad in Melbourne that prospective tenants are bidding for the house with the amount that they are willing to pay. At least it is not that bad in Brisbane yet but getting close.

Pen is home, it is so wonderful. I will share some photos of her visit over the next few days. What do you think of these colors…...BRIGHT!

Hooray

Hooray Penny is coming home tonight, just for four days so that she can renew her visa for Sri Lanka. It is so wonderful; we are really looking forward to it.

I haven’t shared my news with you yet, I 'm going to be designing for a second shop.....Plain Digital Wrapper. I don't know if I will be spreading myself too thinly but I want to give it a go. I'm so pleased that I have the opportunity to do this.

The family all seem pleased about the house, we are just waiting on the final date that we can move. Then we will start the BIG pack, hopefully this is the last time that I have to do it for a while. It makes us clean out the rubbish though there are those twenty books of craft things and books that haven’t been unpacked for five years. LOL Maybe it is time to look at them.

The other thing is that I think that I will change my name to Sandra Boddington Designs and no longer use Sand-Gal. What do you think? It is long. If anyone wants to have a go at designing a logo and if I use it you will receive a $15 gift certificate to the Sweet Shoppe.

Another day, another application.

Another day, another application. We find out today whether we have got the house that we applied for on Monday. It was funny we had spent all Saturday looking (plus Wednesday and Friday of last week), had a major disagreement over a house, came home had lunch and the went to afternoon tea with some friends. I knew when we were going that I was breaking an appointment to see a house but I was weary and fed up. We had a lovely time with the friends, so that when we left I said lets go look at the house, not telling the others that we were an hour late. The tenant at the house was so welcoming and did not seem to mind the fact that we were late. He showed us around the house and told us how it functioned for him. We were chaffed, we like the house, it had everything that we needed ….security, space, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, good location and pretty garden. So we have applied

I just got the news. ……..we got it. Now to move.

No luck with house.

We didn't get the house; to say that I was disappointed would be an understatement. I had stopped looking as I was so sure that we would get it, there were three applicants and they chose one of the others. I’m not sure if the real estate agent was playing games or not, we had paid more rent before and she noted this. This house was cheaper, we missed out but she rang later that morning and guess what she had a house at the same price that we are paying now. It was no where as nice and we were not really interested. So back to the drawing board.

I have a new kit in the shop. I don't know if I told you about the superb day that we had on the circus train, the train went to the railway museum at Ipswich. That was the inspiration behind the kit. It called ‘Circus Train’.

Today we find out

Today is the day we know if we got the house that we put an application in for. It is a lovely old Queensland that has two levels, there are enough bedrooms and living space on the top level for every day living, it has a built in verandah off the main bedroom that I can use as a study. I think that I fell in love with it because it is white, has wooden floorboards and lots if window. Underneath is this pretty guest area, perfect for any of the kids when they come home and anyone that comes to stay a while. It has a bedroom, bathroom and a living area. Fingers crossed for us.

I started a four week contract next week as a teacher-librarian; it is a five day fortnight. I’m looking forward to it, it should be fun.

I wish to share two very pretty layouts from my design team using my new kit ’Down to the sea we go’.

A hot summer's afternoon.

When our children were younger, during the summer holidays we used to go camping down by the ocean. This was a big thing for us as we lived in an inland city(Canberra) about three hours away from the sea. I have some wonderful memories of those times and some very old photos which I must get around to scrapping. We use to spend the mornings by the ocean, swimming, the kids digging in the sand, Graham skin diving and I would relax by reading a book or by drawing. Then home for lunch and sometimes we would go back to the beach but mostly we would go roller skating or movies etc. This was the inspiration behind this week's kit called 'Down to the sea we go'

Circus Train

We had a delightful day on Tuesday the 4th of July; we caught a steam train out to Ipswich to the railway museum. The train was a 'circus train' and it had clowns, ringmaster etc on board. When we got to the museum there were plenty of activities on for children of all ages and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed it.

I have decided to make a kit using 'circus train' as the theme, I have done the drawings for it and now I need to make the papers out of them. All my kits use my drawings. These are the colours, I decided to add an olden day feel to it as the steam train belonged to yester-year.

I'm feeling a bit down tonight as we went back today to the house that we had decided to take and the noise of the traffic from a main road was loud; it was enough to put us off the house. Back to the drawing board (in this case the internet) to continue my search. I wish it was all over and we were settled.

Maybe I will feel better tomorrow.

Sorry

I'm spending just as long on the computer but I'm not designing or scrapping, I looking for a house to live in. We found a really lovely one on Saturday but it was close to a busy road and on the wrong side of a hill, so it didn't get a lot of light or sun. I love light; in this house that we are in now we have to have the lights on in the day otherwise it is just way too dark. We just went out to look at another one, a gracious old Queenslander but a dodgy landlord who wants to rent it month to month as he is trying to sell it. It would have been good if they had said that in the advertisement and then we wouldn't have wasted our time.

I did put a new kit in the shop last week. Did you know that the shop is only releasing new products on Saturday now.....something to look forward to. I go to Designer Digital every Sundy to check out all the new stuff, so I think that having a release day is a great move.

This is my new kit. It is perfect picnic weather up here in Queensland, in fact we went for one yesterday it was lovely. The days are warm and sunny and we have had a little bit of rain so things have greened up.

House Hunting

House hunting was successful in a way, we saw the sustainable house that has been build at Seventeen Miles Rocks and were very impressed by it. It would be magic to live in it. We have always dreamed about have an environmentally friendly home. I began collecting books on the subject 20 odd years ago. So our dream would be to build one, the only problems are that we have no where to live in a few weeks and that to buy land in Brisbane you have to live a fair way out of town. Anyway it is few things to think over the next few days.

Things are happening in the scrapping world, designers are on the move, new places are opening up. July the 1st promises to be an exciting day.

Hooray

Just watched the soccer, we are into the SECOND ROUND. It was such a tense game, did that player really receive three yellow cards and then a red one. I ‘m so proud of them, we have such a great team.

I’m still house hunting, I found a really lovely house this week, far too small for us but we have decided that we would buy it and then extend it later. BUT then we have checked into bridging finance and I think that we should put house-hunting on hold until we sell our property in Sydney. So we are really in no-man land at the moment.

Pen has got her second dose of DENGUE Fever, I try not to worry, as she is in hospital and has excellent care but you know that that is impossible. Please keep her in your prayers.

I have a new kit in the shoppe, called ‘Blushing Baby’, name and colors come from Manda. Thank you Manda. I will leave a preview and two lovely layouts at the end.........So much is happening at Sweet Shoppe Designs, our new designers have come on board and they have already done their part for the Quarterly Sampler Kit that is released on the 1st of July. It is going to be really lovely and such great value.

House Hunting

I'm house hunting in a major way; I spend hours on the net looking at agent's sites and then contacting them to follow up on some house that captures my eye. WE could rent again but the rental market is in a real sump, shortage of houses and what houses that are out there have very high rents.

I have found one or two houses that I’m really interested in and one that we go back for our third visit again on Wednesday, It is just the location….it is in another suburb and I love living here. We could build and I love the idea of a sustainable house but the cost of land is very high and all the blocks that I have seen are on the side of steep hills.

Anyway enough of the house woes. I wish to share with you the exciting news from the Sweet Shoppe Designs, we have taken on five new designers and their work is different and lovely. I’m really looking forward to seeing their new kits for the shop. They are going to be adding to the Sweet Assortment that is coming out at the beginning of July. It will have a mini kit from each of the designers and it will only cost $2.49. Great value!
